About Us

The NSG was set up in 1990 when a businessman, Douglas Evans, whose wife had early onset dementia, asked Professor John Mayer how he could help to promote research. A management committee was set up which included representatives of the local branches of national patient support charities and scientists engaged in research into neurodegenerative diseases at the Queen’s Medical Centre.

Over the years the NSG has provided grants towards the cost of various research projects and organised conferences and workshops for General Practitioners, nurses, care home staff, social workers, carers and members of the public regarding research developments and the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases.
